Palo santo is best known for its benefits of harmony, peace and purification, which come from its resinous, woody, floral and fruity fragrance. This fragrance is concentrated in its wood and branches.

Palo santo belongs to the same botanical family as myrrh and frankincense, the Burseraceae. It grows in the arid tropical forests of northern Peru and Ecuador.

What's more, its high limonene content is reputed to give Palo Santo its insecticidal, antiseptic and tonic properties.

Important:

  • According to the Encens du Monde brand, this incense comes from trees and branches that have fallen to the ground. The scent of the wood matures under these conditions, and there is no ecological pressure on the natural resource. YOGA' recommends that you use Palo Santo sparingly, as a gift from the earth and as what it is... a holy wood.
  • Palo santo (Sacred Wood) is a Spanish name that also designates other tree species, including Bulnesia Sarmientoi, which is found in northern Argentina, Paraguay and the Amazon and is a protected species.

Use

The Palo Santo sticks ignite easilywith a lighter or match.

Stick the stick into a perfume burner lined with sand or ash, deep enough to hold it steady.

Allow the flame to develop for just 30 seconds to a minute, then shake the stick to extinguish the flame and activate the embers. You'll need to relight it 1 or 2 times, for a burn time of 3 to 6 minutes, to obtain a fragrance that's strong enough to last in the room.

Normally, a Palo Santo stick is not used all at once. A stick can be used around 30 times.

To put it out, simply push the lit part into the sand!

Precautions for use
Avoid inhaling smoke directly and ventilate the room well after use.

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

Do not leave unattended and make sure before leaving that the stick is extinguished and not in a draught.

Keep out of reach of children. Do not use in the presence of children or people sensitive to smoke or certain components. If in doubt, seek advice from the doctors in charge.
