Bâton de pluie | Bambou rainmaker
The Rainmaker originated in the very dry Atacama desert in northern Chile, where it was used by the Diaguito Indians during rain ceremonies to invoke the arrival of rain.
In their current version, Meinl brand rainmakers are made from bamboo branches into which nails are driven, then filled with small beads. To produce the typical sound of rain or running water with the Rainstick, all you have to do is slowly tilt your body sideways from the upright position.
As it rotates, the filling inside the rainstick falls from one nail to the other, producing the typical sound of dripping or rustling water. The sound spectrum of a rainstick ranges, depending on how you handle it, from a fine, delicate drizzle to a powerful downpour. It's a sound that takes you on a journey, awakens your senses and guides you towards relaxation.
